Repurposed Serving Tray To A Chalkboard Welcome Sign

Summertime is just around the corner and now that the weather is getting nice we are spending a ton of time outdoors.  Along with preparing the garden, doing some spring cleaning, and breaking out the summer decor we added a new welcome sign by the front door.  I received this serving tray almost 9 years ago as a wedding gift, and I bet I used it twice over those 9 years.  It was really  neat and nice, so I didn’t really want to get rid of it, so I decided I would just re purpose it into something that I would use and love.  A can of chalkboard paint and some painters tape took this unused serving tray and transformed it into the perfect welcome sign for the front porch.

DIY Customized Water Bottles Using Decorative Tape

Looking for a fun way to make serving bottled water extra special at an event or party?  Turn those store bought bottled waters into customized bottles that for fit your event’s decor for just a couple dollars.  A roll of decorative packaging tape is all you need to transform those boring water bottles  to an extraordinary addition to your event!  Not only are these great for events, parties, cookouts, birthdays, and graduations but they are great to keep in the fridge for the kids to grab and go.  We use them in lunches, for sporting events and more.  It’s quick and easy for the kids to keep track of their water bottle at sporting events because they are specially marked and easily identifiable.  This takes only moments and takes bottled water to a new, fun level.

Traveling With Kids – Chip Clip Card Holder

My kids have loooooved playing card games since their first round of go fish!  We often enjoy card games on rainy days, game nights, and even on card trips.  When they were very young I noticed that they had a hard time viewing all of their cards at once without dropping them as they sorted through their stack, trying to figure out which card to play.  A stop at the dollar store was all we needed to to turn card games with toddlers into an easy and even “on the go” activity.  Using a large chip clip they can hold all of their cards so that they see them, but their competitors cannot.  This is also a great way to play cards on a road tip. A simple solution for little hands and a great way to promote play, learning, and fun as a family.

Glory Glory Morning Glories

I certainly wouldn’t say that I have a green thumb, but over the last few years I have learned a lot about gardening through trial and error.  Flowers have always been scary to me, so I like to stick with things that I know I can manage.  Good old zinnias and sunflowers, and gladiolas  are fool proof and about the only thing I have had success with until… drum roll please… last summer. I was determined to cover my garden fence in climbing flowers, and glory glory…Morning glories were my answer.  I was able to grow the most beautiful morning glories, and they cover the entire side of my garden in their simple splendor.  Beautiful winding stems, and amazingly vibrant colors all in-twined in my simple garden fence were not so difficult and SO worth the effort!

Kid’s Bird Nest Craft And Little Birdie Book Marks

Now that spring is officially here the kids are all about admiring the sweet little birds hopping around outside.  They seem thrilled to be chasing and “trying to catch” them as they move around the yard.  I’m not certain what they want to do with them once the catch them, but I am assuming they want to play with them as if they were little pets.  Luckily the kids have gotten no were near one, so I haven’t had to worry about it yet.   So,  I decided that we needed a fun craft project so the kids could make their own bird nests and birds to play with.  Here is a fun rainy day project to with the kids that allows them to create there very own little bird family to play with complete with a nest just right for playing.

Our 30th Random Act Of Kindness – The Comfort For Kids Campaign

Remember less than a month ago, when I shared with you the 30 Random Acts of Kindness that our family had done over the last year?  Well, I ended that post with # 30 which read: ” Number 30 is a surprise and I will fill you in on it very soon!  We are planning something big that is so near and dear to our hearts and I cannot wait to share it with you after it is all said and done!  It involves a campaign that we started to help kids who have been faced with heart related illnesses.”   Well… here it is friends- time to share!  Our 30th RAOK is in its final stages and we couldn’t be more proud of what we are calling the Comfort For Kids Campaign.

Spring Kid Craft – Feeding The Birds

As the snow finally turns to rain we welcome the chance to see and hear the sights and sounds of spring again!  One of the most best signs that spring has arrived is the beautiful sound of busy little birds chirping outside your windows.   Here is an easy projects for the kids and well… it’s for the birds too!  Get the kids in on the fun, and let them help the birds celebrate spring.  A few quick supplies and some old jar lids is all you will need to create some sweet little bird treats with your kids.  Not only is this a fun activity and easy project to make  – The thrill of watching, waiting, and seeing the birds that enjoy the treat they created will evoke some awesome smiles from your kiddos!

Repurpose A Crib Mattress To Make A Kid’s Book Nook

If you have school aged kids in your home, you probably spend a huge amount of time reading with them. Our kids spend countless hours every week reading with us or reading by themselves, and we are now amazed that they are reading to US!  Probably one of the most amazing parenting moments so far has been to have our baby reading US a bedtime story!  Here is a way to re purpose that baby crib mattress, now that your kids don’t use it anymore!  The combination of a simple mattress on the floor covered in a cute fabric, a row of rain gutter bookshelves, and stacks of cozy pillows makes for a kid friendly space that your kids will never want to leave! You can create a book nook for your little ones to enjoy for years to come!

30 Random Acts Of Kindness To Do With Your Kids

After two years of blogging, I am about to share with you the absolute best project I have ever done with my children.  It is not a craft, or a recipe, but an initiative.  Over the last year my kids and I have gone out into the world and done 30 random acts of kindness together.  Our acts of kindness were based on what is important to our family, and the experience was, by far, one of the most life changing projects we ever done together.  Not only was it about teaching my kids the importance of being kind to others, but I hope they walked away with a life lesson that they will never forget!  I hope this inspires you to do something nice for someone else, and especially to get your kids involved!
