Budget Kitchen Island Makeover

As I mentioned in my last post I wanted to go into a little more detail on how I wallpapered, painted and then distressed our kitchen island.  I am going to guess that the total cost to change up our kitchen island was less than $6.oo.  I used paint colors that we had left over from other projects and less than half of a roll of paintable bead board wallpaper.  This is a great option if you have a kitchen island that doesn’t get a lot of abuse and needs a makeover – it looks pretty and the price is certainly right!  You can read all about my budget kitchen makeover here, but here is the skinny on the kitchen island itself.  A simple paint glaze I used added a great distressed finish to add a ton of character to our kitchen.

Kitchen Backsplash Using Beadboard Wallpaper- Transform Your Home On A Budget

Today I am bringing you a super budget friendly way to completely transform your kitchen for about $12.00.  Need an inexpensive, quick fix for a so-so kitchen?  Well here it is.  Textured, paintable wallpaper turns a drab back splash from boring to polished in just a few easy steps.  No power tools, no expensive supplies, and no contractor bills.  Plus this is an easy way to change things up without a permanent damage to the walls that would be expensive to remove and replace like tile back splashes.  This stay at home mom did it all on her own after bedtime while her kids were fast asleep and you can do it too.

Lemon Gumdrop Cookie Recipe

These simple lemon gumdrop cookies are easy to make and are a staple in our house, especially during the holidays.  They are not a particularly festive holiday cookie, but my family loves them so we make them as a special treat throughout the year and during the holidays too.  Everyone loves their light lemony flavor and they are perfect to make and share.  A boxed lemon cake mix and a few other simple ingredients are all you need to make a batch that the whole family will love.  Even though my mouth won’t be meeting any of these cookies in the next few weeks, I hope yours do, because you will love them.

Happy New Year – Welcome to 2013

Happy New Year to you all!  I certainly hope that each and everyone of you had a safe and happy holiday season!  I thoroughly enjoyed my break from blogland and dove into my family with every ounce of my being.  Our break began with 2 snow days from school before winter break was supposed to start and inches and inches of fluffy white snow!  I found myself hunkered in with my kids enjoying nothing more than staying in my jammies, playing games, drinking hot cocoa, and forgetting about everything but them.  It was pure magic each and every day as we anticipated and enjoyed one family function after another.

Snowball Surprise – Holiday Gifts For Kids To Give Classmates

Here is a super fun way for your kids to give a holiday time gift to their classmates at school!  By wrapping a little surprise in white tissue and crepe paper you create a darling little snowball surprise for your child to give.  This is a great way to give a holiday gift without it being overly Christmas specific.  If you are worried about being “politically correct”  and trying to give something without offending families who may not celebrate Christmas this is a great idea.  It is just a fun way for kids to wrap and give something to someone that is special to them and could work for anybody on their Christmas list too.

Reindeer Sandwiches – Kid Friendly Holiday Lunch

Here is a fun way to spice up the kid’s packed lunch at school for the holidays that takes little extra time, but will be extra fun for them.  Reindeer sandwiches are the perfect way to make a lunch with a little holiday magic for the kiddos.  A heart shaped cookie cutter turns a regular old Pb&J sandwich into an adorable little reindeer sandwich.  Pretzels for antlers ,chocolate chip eyes, and a red M&M nose make this reindeer as cute as they are tasty.  The kids will love them and request them every day until Christmas arrives!  Make them for school, for a fun lunch at home, or for a kid friendly dish to pass at any holiday party.
