Candy Cane Cookies

Here is one last Holiday treat idea for you all.  We will be making our Christmas cookies this weekend and here is a never favorite on our families list of cookies to bake for Christmas time.  Mint creme and special red holiday oroes turn from good to amazing after they are dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with candy cane pieces.  These are easy to make and taste great too!  They are super fun and festive to make during the holidays and will be a hit at any holiday gathering.  We have made three batches of these so far this year and let’s just say they are a new favorite.

I spotted these little goodies on Pinterest from Cupcakes and Crablegs and couldn’t wait to make them for a family gathering.  They vanished right quick, and my kids and hubby request more soon after.

They are very simple to make, but look so special and and holiday pretty when they are all done.  My kids love helping to make these and I love making them because they are quick and easy too.

We have tried a few different versions of this and like them all just the same.

My husband and kids love peppermint flavored treats so we decided to make a batch with Cool Mint Oreos for extra minty flavor!  They loved them.  I preferred mine with regular Oreos, so I also made a batch with Winter Oreos (which are regular Oreos with red filling and winter pictures on them).  Either way you make them, they turn out great, it just depends on how much you like int flavoring!  Making both kids at the same time is really fun, because then you have cookies with a surprise red or green filling that is super festive for Christmas time.

So to make these in Christmas colors you will need:

1 package of Winter Oreos with red creme filling

1 package of Cool Mint Creme Oreos

(2) 12 ounce packages of White Morsels

1 small package of regular candy canes

2 packages of white chocolate chips will cover about 40 cookies, so you will have some left over and the box of candycanes will be way more than enough!  You probably only need a couple of candy canes broken up.  We have been using the extra sprinkled in hot cocoa for fun!

To make:

Melt the white morsels in a glass bowl in the microwave.  Heat 30 seconds and stir – repeat until it is all melted.

Then dip one cookie at a time and make sure it is fully covered.

Let the excess drip off and then place on a piece of parchment paper to cool (about 30 min)

Sprinkle with crushed of candy cane pieces before they are cooled

Enjoy!
