We are in full blown summer mode as of this week, so be prepared to be bombarded on A Spotted Pony with kid crafts, projects, and activities! When the kids are home for the summer they are my number one priority, so other projects get put on hold while we make memories during the summer! I figure, why not share it all with you in case you need some inspiration with summer time activities. Here is a super simple craft project that you can do with the kids to create a fantastic patriotic windsock to help decorate outside for the fourth f July holiday! It is super inexpensive to make, helps kids work on patterns, colors, and cutting, and is super cute swaying in the wind outdoors to boot. Grab some plastic disposable table cloths in red white and blue and get ready to do a craft with the kids to celebrate independence.

Garden Teepee – Fun For Kids Great For Plants
Spending hours in the garden with the kids can be a treat when the kids have a space that lets them explore. Making gardening fun for the kids helps gardening stay fun for me at the same time! With the addition of a kid friendly space in the garden we created a fantastic teepee for the kids to play in and for some plants to climb on. I in-vision it covered in bean and pea plants and the kids sitting inside snacking on fresh vegetables come the end of summer. Our teepee was constructed with large branches, twine, and string to give the kid’s play area a fort that still looks natural out in the garden. Then the kids decorated around the teepee however they wanted to make their space their own. Now we wait, and see how well our teepee works as an aid for our plants!

Gardening With Kids – A Garden Tea Table
Since I have been on the subject of gardening this week I wanted to share a couple more projects with you in case you are out working in the garden over the next few weeks too! My kids are always in the garden with me and keeping them busy is always important. This year I have decided to give them their very own little space in the garden to play throughout the summer! The best part is we made this play area out of nothing but stumps, branches, twine, and some mulch. It didn’t cost us a thing, and the kids are free to run, play, and hangout in their own space without stomping out the things we have planted. We created a very simple tea table from a few stumps that we had laying around, and it has been more fun for them that any toy you can buy!
Repurpose An Old Grill Into A Garden Storage Cart
We have been spending all kinds of time in the garden the last couple of weeks. This will be our 4th growing season, and things are getting serious, so I decided it was time to have a decent place to store our garden tools near the garden. In past years we hauled everything out from the barn each and every time we were going to do some gardening, and things often got left out, or misplaced. After noticing our old non-working grill was hanging out in the barn for two – too many year I decided to make it into a useful way to store, move, and organize our garden tools right out in the garden. It is the perfect moveable potting and planting cart – with lots of great places to hang and store tools. The old grill is now a new garden storage solution that works just right!

A Beer Cake For The Man In Your Life
Birthdays and holidays always leave my baffled when it comes to what to give the men in my life as a gift. Unless I have a list with a specific tool or electronic devises I am lost, and most likely I don’t have enough money to buy it anyway! These days I am trying hard to think practical, but still put the time and effort into giving gifts to the men that mean the most to me deserve. With father’s day right around the corner and today being my handsome hubby’s birthday I wanted to share a past gift with you that was a huge hit. What man doesn’t love a nice cold beer after a hard day, or while grilling out on a nice summer night. Stock him up with his favorite brew and make it into a cake fit for any man on their special day. If that man isn’t a beer drinker substitute any beverage that they like!
End Of The Year Teacher’s Thank You Gift
Yesterday I shared with you an idea for an infinity scarf teachers appreciation gift that included a simple sewing project. Here is another quick and easy idea for those of you who don’t sew, or don’t have time to make a scarf before the end of the school year! Stop and grab a nice bottle of nail polish in a shade that you think your child’s teacher will like. Maybe a bright fun color for summer. Then add a little tag that says: “Thanks for helping me polish up my reading, writing, and much more!” This would make a great little thank you for any female influence in your child’s life, and can be easily personalized by changing up the phrase or by adding your favorite teacher’s name to it!
Inexpensive Teachers Infinity Scarf Gift
Teachers are such an important part of our children’s lives and saying thank you to them is so important! As the end of the school year approaches I have been thinking hard about a way to show them how much my kids have enjoyed having them as a teacher, and for me how much I appreciate them loving, teaching, and sharing in my children’s lives. There are so many teachers appreciation gift ideas out there, but here is my take on a simple and inexpensive gift that my kids will be giving to their teachers this year to say Thank You to infinity for all that they do! A simple DIY infinity scarf can cost just a couple dollars and take just minutes to make, but it is sure to show your child’s teacher that they are appreciated for years to come.
