Ok…if you were a what I wore Wednesday fan, I have finally got something for you. I literally am going to wear my heart on my sleeve and also tell you that… there is something about Wisconsin winters makes a lady not want to take pictures of herself on a daily basis. I miss my sun kissed skin, and healthy fit self from summer work and play. The most likely reason why you haven’t seen these posts in a while! But, I guess I need to be honest with myself and with you that we all feel that way from time to time. Here are 3 fun outfits for ya and a simple DIY that turns a plain sweatshirt into an adorable addition to your wardrobe in minutes, just by adding some hearts to your sleeves!
I think every mother wants to positively reinforce their children’s good behavior. If you are like me, when you see bad behavior it is something you automatically “hone in on” – to correct it instantly. Positive behaviors, on the other hand, often don’t get the same amount of attention. We expect our children to do certain things and act a certain way, and that is our job as parents to teach them. Here is a great way to make a big deal out of good, positive behaviors and kind actions that your children choose to do on their own! “Whooo’s been good” is a little surprise jar that we have in our house for when I catch the kids doing something unexpected and totally awesome!
Happy Wednesday! This addition of What I wore Wednesday includes 2 easy outfits as well as an awesomely easy DIY ruffled scarf tutorial. A quick and easy project that leaves you with a fun and feminine scarf for you or anybody on your gift giving list this winter. Don’t worry if you don’t sew… all you need to make this great scarf is some fabric (or an old t-shirt) and a pair of scissors. Anybody can make these and I suggest you make a few in several different colors, because you are going to love them.
The week of Thanksgiving was filled with lots of great food, family, and traditions. We had two straight days of all of those things with both sides of the family and I enjoyed every second of it. I also found myself dressed in comfortable and yes, stretchy, fabrics to accommodate the extra healthy portions of comfort food that I ate last week! The color pallet of black and gray made a lot of appearances last week, probably in hopes of disguising the two day long binge that occurred. Lets just say, that it worked out just fine, because I was perfectly happy, comfortable, and did not go hungry for one second last week.
After editing my pictures for the week I noticed that I had a very neutral week. I wore mostly browns, blacks, tans, and gray. While it is kind of uncharacteristic of me, I liked all of the outfits for the week, and still got in a few pops of color here and there. Normal I love a lot of bright colors and fun textures mixed in with my neutrals, but sometimes less is more. I came up with three really simple and budget friendly outfits that have pieces that I wear again and again! One of the pops of color was from a simple jersey scarf that is ruffled, fun, and requires no sewing at all.
In an effort to redeem myself from last week, I worked very hard to come up with four outfits instead of my usual three. I also wanted to do my best to make them super thrifty too. With the combination of clearance and sale price items along with thrifted and garage sale finds, I was able to do just that. Getting dressed is more fun with great budget friendly finds that you love. A striped scarf, fun plaid shirts, a refashioned vest and a great pair of boots for less than a dollar. Here are four cool weather friendly looks that any mom can achieve on a major budget.
Oh dear, I cannot believe that it is Wednesday already. I give myself a big old F for effort this week in the What I Wore department. I have all of one outfit to share with you…which means I have had a busy week. With our household going on week three of illnesses I feel like I am back in my baby raising days, and you guessed it – my yoga pants have been getting a workout, and not the way they are meant to. I usually take and edit photos throughout the week as I wear things, but this week there was not a stitch of time for any of it.
We have had a busy week with all of the Halloween festivities in full swing. I have found myself almost constantly in skinny jeans with boots and flowing tops now that the weather has gotten a little colder. For me, the combination is perfect for my day to day tasks and for hauling the kids to and fro. I’m loving the cozy scarves boots, and layers. It has become my go to quick option in the mornings, which is a huge step up from my old yoga pants and over sized sweatshirts a few months ago.
Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day. What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day. The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!
Can I just say – WOW! What a difference three months can make! I have been doing these little What I wore posts that long, and I can hardly believe the transformation. The interesting part for me…is that I have had all of this stuff in my closet for years. Things that I love, but I never wore , and for no apparent reason. Three months later I am starting to enjoy the thought of getting dressed in the morning instead of taking the lazy way out, and it really doesn’t take any extra time.
