What I Wore Wednesday – Thrifty Is Nifty

In an effort to redeem myself from last week, I worked very hard to come up with four outfits instead of my usual three.  I also wanted to do my best to make them super thrifty too.  With the combination of clearance and sale price items along with thrifted and garage sale finds,  I was able to do just that.  Getting dressed is more fun with great budget friendly finds that you love.    A striped scarf, fun plaid shirts, a refashioned vest and  a great pair of boots for less than a dollar.  Here are four cool weather friendly looks that any mom can achieve on a major budget.

Wednesday:  Yet more doctor’s appointments, drug store trips and errands

I scored at thriftt stores on this entire outfit!  The boots were less than $1.00 at a local thrift store during a back to school bag sale.  Anything you could fit in a bag for $2.50.  I had a few other things in the bag, so it worked out to each item costing 75 cents each!  This are great quality western boots that I wear often!  I also love the brightly colored American Eagle flannel shirt that I found at Goodwill – it is just my style and from one of my favorite stores that I no longer get to shop at anymore.

Distressed jeans:  $6.00 Thrifted Goodwill (Amethyst brand)

Plaid Shirt:  Thirifted American Eagle $8.99

Boots:  Thirifted Justin Boots $.75 bag sale

Tank Top:  Walmart $3.88

Vest:  Free – I re purposed a coat I have had since high school instead of getting rid of it

Total Outfit Cost:  $19.62

Friday:  Lunch date with a friend and finishing that list of things to do

White Tunic Blouse:  Rue 21 $20.00

Black Leggings:   Walmart clearance $4.00

Brown Boots:  Old Navy $40.00 (with coupon)

Necklace:  Lia Sophia – Free for hosting a party

Total Outfit Cost:  $64.00

Saturday:  Running the little man to a birthday party, a little work doing hair, and a leisurely afternoon at home with the family

Jeans:  K-mart clearance $6.00

Shoes: Free – garage sale swap

Striped scarf:  K-mart clearance $3.00

Sweater:  Thrifted $6.00

Tank Top:  Target Clearance $6.00

Total Outfit Cost: $21.00

Hair:  I picked up a great new conical curling wand from Goodwill for $2.00.  After taking it home and sanitized it I gave it a try and loved the curl that I got from it.  Very natural soft curls.

Monday:  Spending the day at school with the little lady.

Jeans:  Thrifted (Rue 21) $5.00

Flannel Shirt:  Old Navy $15.99

Shoes:  Thrifted $6.00

Cardigan:  Thrifted $3.00 (1/2 off tag day)

Total Outfit Cost:  $29.99

Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day.  What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day.  The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!
