We are always trying to come up with ways to make meal time fun – especially when there is a holiday to celebrate. These simple pumpkin pancakes will be a not so scary treat that your kids will love.
Being a stay at home mom is fun but sometimes making and cleaning up three meals a day gets s tiny bit old, right? Don’t get me wrong, I love every second of it, but sometimes it’s nice to add a little excitement! With Halloween just around the corner – we love to incorporate the holiday into meals and activities. Earlier this month I showed you how to make Halloween sprinkle pancakes and ghostly tomato soup with grilled cheese to help you get in the Halloween spirit. These cute little Jack-o-Lantern pancakes are super simple to make and will make you little monsters so excited for Halloween.
Simply make you pancake batter as usual and mix in a little yellow and red food coloring. I had some Wilton cake decorating food coloring that worked awesome. It gave them a nice bright orange color. Cook them as normal. After they have cooled a little, use green and black cake decorating gel to put stems and faces onto your pumpkin shaped pancakes. I just bought a tiny tube of each color at the grocery store. A little goes a long way here.
Let the kids get into the action too! My four year old had a blast making his own jack-o-lanterns, and just so you know, he ate every last bite of them too!
