These infinity scarves became so popular last year. You can make one yourself in about five minutes with less than $3.50! Let me show you how it’s done!
Now that fall has arrived I want to wear scarves every day. Last winter I started making my own scarves as gifts for friends and family and I have to share this trick with you. Jersey fabric is so inexpensive, usually about $4 to $12 a yard. It won’t fray after it is cut, and is so comfortable to wear. Nobody wants to wear an itchy scarf. I love these with any outfit – the are soft and comfy, but don’t get hot to wear in my opinion.
I also love the stripe trend, but don’t necessarily feel like I wear it well. This scarf is my absolute favorite because I can add the stripes, without being covered in them! To make this, go to any fabric store and look through their selection of jersey fabrics. There are so many options and you can find something that you will really love.
Get yourself a 1/4 of a yard to 1/2 yard of fabric cut at the store (depending on how thick you want it). This particular scarf is about 5ft long 1/2 yard wide. This fabric was $7.00 per yard, so that’s a whopping $3.50 to make this scarf! Remember that this fabric doesn’t fray, so no need to hem the raw edges. If you don’t sew stop here, wrap that comfy jersey fabric around your next and you have an awesome scarf!
If you want to make an an infinity scarf, it is as simple as folding the scarf in half and sewing one line to attach the two raw ends together. The hardest part is that the ends curl up a bit, so use a few pins to keep the rolls down. That is it!
You are done. Here is your new favorite scarf. Wrap around your neck twice to wear it like in the photo below. They are the most comfortable and versatile scarves ever. Simple, inexpensive, and easy. I hope that you visit you local fabric store and make one for yourself. Make some for your friends as gifts too, I promise they will love you for it.

I just want to make sure i am understanding you correctly. You fold the material in half lengthwise and sew the long side together making a tube. Then you swe the raw edges of the tube together thus creating the infinity circle?.
This particular scarf in the post was not folded lengthwise. The edges were left raw and was not really sewn into a tube. Just cut the fabric and then sew the short ends together. I do suggest that if you have a fabric that is patterned only on one side that you create a tube by sewing the long sides together to create a tube – it just depends on your fabric! hope that helps 🙂
