Ever have one of those days where you are out and about with the family, you walk past a window and realize your hair is just not right, bad even? I always carry this emergency hair kit in my purse for just such an occasion. It’s small, simple and made from an old spice container. The perfect solution for bad hair days!
I keep a lot of important things in my purse to make my life easier, and this is one of my favorites. I have long, sometimes unruly hair and never know when I might need my emergency hair kit. My hair has a good wave and because of it’s length it can get out of control easily. Depending on the weather my style can fade, frizz, and go flat in an instant. If I have straightened it and it is humid or rainy there is no way I can leave it down and look put together. In that situation I would normally pin my bangs back, and make a ponytail using a strand of my own hair and two bobby pins. Quick and easy if I have the right supplies.
I have found that I can seem to fix any style gone bad using 3 things:
- Bobby Pins
- Hairspray
- My hands
- *Hair ties are always nice too
Here is my absolute favorite thing that I always keep stashed in my purse. My emergency hair kit made from an old spice container. It is just the right size for a handful of bobby pins, a small sized travel hairspray, and some hair-ties too. It stashes easily in my purse and allows me to pop open the little spout and grab a couple bobby pins, or open the top to get out the hairspray for a quick fix for a hair do gone bad. I have two little ones, so anything that I do to my hair (especially on the go) needs to get done fast.
To make an emergency hair kit for your purse:
- After you use up one of the large sized spice container contents remove all labels and wash it well with soap and water
- Let it dry and it is ready to fill with hair necessities
- Add a travel sized version of your favorite hairspray and bobby pins or clips
- Add Hair-ties to the bottom our outside of the container
- Throw in you purse so you have your emergency hair kit everywhere you go
Standard hair ties fit perfectly around the outside of the container. I have found that putting them on the outside makes it super easy to grab one and go and keeps the inside free from clutter so you can open the spout to dump out bobby pins.
Save your containers from the kitchen and make one for your purse or for your daughter’s! I stick with plain colored hair ties but what tween or teen wouldn’t love one of these in her bag with brightly colored hair ties. I first started doing this when we traveled to contain bobby pins, but now can’t leave the house without it. This is a great storage solution for hair necessities not only for you, but your daughter’s too! I remember having an athletic bag when I was younger that I really could have used one of these for! How often do you forget to think about how you will put your hair back at the gym, or at a practice and have to go searching for someone who has extras. You will never have to go on the hunt for hair ties and pins again.
