The cool fall weather brings movie night back to our house. It is one of our favorite family things to do when the weather turns cold and the days get shorter. Snuggling up together with a good movie and our favorite movies means good memories and sweet treats to share. Movie night is never complete without popcorn of some kind. Here is an extra special popcorn treat that is as fun to make as it is to eat! Microwave Caramel corn is a fun project to do with the kids and an extra special movie night treat!
So… my preschooler came home with a little Ziploc bag the other day with this tasty caramel corn inside. She was supposed to save some to take home for her daddy, but ate every last morsel before we made the 2 minute trip home from school. I think that means, that she was head over heals for this popcorn, so I had to find out what it was all about. The next day I asked her teacher and she mentioned that they made it in the microwave at school with the kids as a project! The best part was that it sounded deliciously easy and fun too. So I got the recipe from my little girl’s teacher and couldn’t wait to give it a try at home! All of the ingredients are something that are super easy to find and most likely already in the pantry at home! When our next movie night rolled around this was the first thing on our list to make.
We got to work popping some popcorn, and testing it out too, of course!
Then we used the microwave to mix up the oeey gooey goodness to coat it with! We made an extra big batch to share so we had to use a pot instead of a paper bag!
And wala! The sweetest and easiest batch of candy coated popcorn I have ever tried! The kids were able to help with the whole process (under major supervision with the hot caramel of course). We had a great time making the popcorn as a family and it really made movie night extra special!
The hardest part was letting the popcorn sit and cool! Everyone in the family was snatching handfuls from the table before it was cooled!
This is a fast, fun, easy fall treat to make and eat with your kids! Give it a try on your next family movie night. I know your kids will love it.
