There is nothing better than a hand written love note from someone you love to start your day out right. This fill in the blank dry erase wall art is the perfect way to leave simple little love notes for your family every day! A simple frame is all that you need to get the whole family in on the fun.
I made this dry erase frame about a year ago for Valentines Day. I thought it would make a great little piece of wall art for the holiday and I have never taken it down. I love the sweet sentiments that randomly appear on this board from day to day. It has turned into a fun family message board that we use all year long.
There are so many simple ways to make these boards. I have seen these on several blogs and all over Pinterest. Not sure where the original idea came from, but it was a good one! All you need is a simple picture frame that has it’s glass intact and you can write on it with dry erase markers.
I found a very cool frame at Goodwill that had double sided glass with a wire mesh in between. I loved the industrial look and simple lines of the frame so I left it just the way it was. I used a Cricut machine to cut out the words and a heart out of vinyl. I added a long strip of vinyl on the bottom for people to fill in the blank with dry erase marker. I stuck the vinyl lettering onto the glass that was in my frame and I was all done.
I have seen many of these done with scrapbook paper or fabric backing which I think are really fun. That is a great way to really match the frame to your home’s decor. There are so many ways that you could make this to fit your home perfectly. You can have a painted colorful frame or distress it for some character. Use bold colorful paper or fabric for the background. Try simple or elaborate fonts. Just be sure that your background isn’t so busy that your writing isn’t visible on the glass. That was my favorite part about the metal screen in my frame. It added character and interest without distracting from the words that we write on it.
There is nothing sweeter than seeing my sons handwriting and backwards letters on this board when he tries to leave a message! At his age he can’t write out exactly what he means, but I usually get the jist, and it is so sweet that he thinks to write on it. I often leave notes for my husband when he is working long days so he is reminded of how much we appreciate his hard work. Because my frame has a metal matte around the glass I sometimes leave little pictures on it with a magnet. It is a great way for the kids to see that the message is for them and to celebrate their achievements. I think every family should have one of these in their home. Our days always go rushing by so quickly, and we all have so much to do. Sometimes it is easy to forget to stop and leave notes that encourage one another and show our love. This little frame is a great reminder to leave those ever important notes that make us each feel loved and appreciated. If ever I walk past it, and see that there is no message, I am quick to stop and write something special in hopes that it makes someones day a little brighter. It not only makes you stop and think of others, but it makes others feel the love.
