Homemade Christmas Decor – Burlap Pillows

Last week I shared with you the first three out of four DIY Christmas projects that I have been working on that involve burlap.  Something about the simple natural texture of burlap, makes me want to create everything that I can with it.  With my leftover yard or so of burlap I created three very simple, but pretty decorative pillows to add to our Christmas decor.  Burlap, stuffing, thread and a sewing machine were all I needed to make these pillows, but some red craft paint and a stencil of the words Peace, Love, and Joy transformed them into a special addition to our home for the holidays.

Make Your Own Personalized Photo Christmas Ornaments

Photo ornaments are a perfect way to add a special ornament to the tree each year to commemorate each Christmas.  They also make a fabulous gift for the people that you are closest too.   I have been creating an ornament each year to add to our own tree, and for the kids to give to their Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, and Uncles for their trees too.  Buying personalized ornaments from stores or photo labs can be really expensive, especially if you are buying a lot of them at once.  Here is a great way to create personalized photo ornaments at home for a fraction of the cost that are just as beautiful.

Framed Picture To Temporary Christmas Decoration

Here is a quick trick I use around the holidays to transform framed pictures into temporary holiday decorations.  Making those framed pictures fit in with your holiday decor is super simple, and it takes just minutes to transform them to fit the season.  Pieces of fabric inserted into a frame can be as simple or festive as you like and make a big impact without a lot of money or time.  You can then add window clings, or wall decals to make your frame sparkle and shine with Christmas flare without damaging the glass.  It is a totally temporary solution for the holidays, super inexpensive, and easy too!

Well last weekend was eventful in our house, as I’m sure it was in lots of yours too.  After a couple days of food and family, we got the house all decked out for Christmas.  It is one of my favorite family activities of the year, and the kids love everything about it too!  This year I added a few new Christmas decorations that I made myself with a few simple, and inexpensive supplies.   This one includes a scrap piece of burlap, some red craft paint, glitter, and a thrifted embroidery hoop.  This project was super cheap but has a big impact in our living room.  A simple, sweet message in glitter to remind us what the season is all about.

Kid’s Felt Christmas Tree – Let Them Re-decorate It Over And Over

Do you have a little one in your house that would redecorate the Christmas tree every single day until Christmas?  If so, here is a great idea to let those little hands get creative with their very own little Christmas tree.  Using a dollar store cone and some felt you can create them their very own Christmas Tree that they can decorate over and over again, any way they would like, all season long!  Felt ornaments, lights and garland allow them to move things around and change things up without breaking the real ornaments on the tree.
