What I Wore Wednesday – My Heart On My Sleeve

Ok…if you were a what I wore Wednesday fan, I have finally got something for you.  I literally am going to wear my heart on my sleeve and also tell you that… there is something about Wisconsin winters makes a lady not want to take pictures of herself on a daily basis.  I miss my sun kissed skin, and healthy fit self from summer work and play.  The most likely reason why you haven’t seen these posts in a while!  But, I guess I need to be honest with myself and with you that we all feel that way from time to time.  Here are 3 fun outfits for ya and a simple DIY that turns a plain sweatshirt into an adorable addition to your wardrobe in minutes, just by adding some hearts to your sleeves!

Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day.  What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day.  The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!

Sweatshirt: Target clearance $15!!

Jeggings:  Kohls (Simply Vera – mine were a gift but I thik they were less than $20 with a coupon!)

Boots:  Thrifted $10

My total outfit cost was $25

This is the perfect comfortable outfit!  I adore this sweatshirt SOOO much that I got it in two different colors.  It is comfy and casual, but still pretty and feminine.  I have even worn it out for date night with heels and jeans!

My Pinterest ispired style came from  What She Wore 365 and was a very bold move in my opinion!   I got these green skinnies around Christmas time and have only been brave enough to wear them twice!  For some reason pairing them with the black jacket helped me feel like I was toning it down a bit!  The leopard print heels…not so much… but it was really a fun outfit to wear!

Green skinnies:  Walmart $10.00

Black Jacket (this is jersey and feels like wearing a sweatshirt!):  Rue 21 $21.00

White Tank Top:  K-mart clearance $3.00

Leapord print heels:  Target clearance $13.00

Brown Belt:  Thrifted $3.00

Total:  $50.00

P.S.  Did you notice that my hair has gotten progressively darker through the pictures.  I finally decided to go really dark and give my hair a little break from the highlights just for fun!  It looks so shiney and healthy all one color, and I am loving it…for now.

Last but not least I wanted to share a little DIY with you!  I have been spending a lot of time in yoga pants, sweatshirts, and jeans.  Somehow I think I can fool myself into working out more if I am already wearing workout clothes.  It does work most days.  So in an effort to get fit I have been sporting this sweatshirt a lot!  I found this great Hanes sweatshirt on clearance for $5.00 a while back and picked it up.  It had a super fun neckline and the color just made me happy!  So I added some sweet little hearts to the sleeve to sweeten it up a little, and it is now one of my favorite things to wear.I simply put on the sweatshirt, bent my elbows and marked the center so I knew where to place the hearts.  I then cut two hearts out from some fabric (I used another old shirt with a pretty flower pattern) using a cookie cutter.  I used my appliue technique to attach them to the sleeves, being sure that they were placed perfectly on my markings tht I had previously made.

I was able use my sewing machine to stich around the appliqued hearts, but it was not easy.  I defanitly reccomend hand stitching around your appliqued hearts!  Pretty cute for a $5.00 shirt and sweet for Valentines Day too!
