Can I just say – WOW! What a difference three months can make! I have been doing these little What I wore posts that long, and I can hardly believe the transformation. The interesting part for me…is that I have had all of this stuff in my closet for years. Things that I love, but I never wore , and for no apparent reason. Three months later I am starting to enjoy the thought of getting dressed in the morning instead of taking the lazy way out, and it really doesn’t take any extra time.
This week I really realized how differently I have started to carry myself, and feel about the things that I choose to put on in the morning before I head out the door. I was shocked myself, when I started getting inspired to get out of my pjs and enjoy the clothes that I had already bought. I have to admit, this process has made me want to go out and shop, but I don’t have the time or the funds for much of anything, so I am learning to be creative with what I have, and it’s really fun. I have bought a few new pieces, but they are all very neutral, staple pieces and, of course, very budget friendly. It’s obvious that I have a hard time spending more than $20.00 on pants and shoes, $8.00 on shirts, and rarely buy accessories because there are more important things to spend ones money on. I will admit that I like to shop, but I never buy anything full price, and have a weird price point (I think it means I’m cheap) in my head that I won’t go over for things. For the last 6 years I have not really shopped for myself, but instead my kids unless it was a necessity. So just so you all know I am not going out and buying new things every week to create these outfits. If you look back you will notice A LOT of repeated items that pop up each week and that you will be seeing again. I am enjoying the fall weather and the options that layering, and the combining of different pieces has given me. I hope these posts are really inspiring other stay at home mommies out there to raid their own closets and take some time to care for themselves!
Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day. What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day. The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!
Thursday: Kids to school, dog to the vet, teachers conferences, and a rocking visit with my parents and brother’s family.
Not sure what it is about the military style stuff, but I have always found it very cool for lack of a better word. I bought this jacket almost two years ago, and have never worn it, although I love it lots. maybe I felt like it was a little much, or too “out there”, but I’m getting brave, and as long as I like it, I’m starting not to care what anyone else might think. It was comfy, cute and perfect for a busy fall day.

Saturday: A rare date night out with friends, that was an absolute blast and much needed visit with amazing friends!
This shirt and tank are very much my style, but again I rarely sport it. Once, I think to a wedding and a class reunion. A date night to a fancy restaurant with the hubby and great friends was the perfect opportunity to pull it out, pair it with some skinny jeans and nude colored pink heels.
Pink Blouse: Charlotte Russe $?
Sparkly Gray Tank: Charlotte Russe $?
Black Skinny Jeans: Walmart $12.88
Nude Colored Pink Heels: JC Penny $20.00
Hair: I tried a new style and really liked it, although I cringe at the thought of curling my hair and then pinning most of it up. Since it was a rare date night (a special occasion in my book) I did it anyway, and loved the sophisticated look I ended up with. I curled my hair in hot rollers then teased and smoothed the top. I sectioned off the front part of my hair, and put the rest in a ponytail, and then big bun. I then pulled the front and sides over the bun, smoothed and pinned it underneath leaving a few pieces out. It created a nice smooth voluminous bump and an easy updo.
My Pinterest inspired outfit this week is a ultra casual and comfortable style. I couldn’t find the original source of this photo, but I’m fairly certain she is someone famous. Since I am pretty out of touch with everything except Dora and Mario I can’t tell you who she is.
This outfit is about as comfortable as it gets. Love all of the simple pieces that can do double and triple duty paired together to create an easy outfit.
