What I Wore Wednesday – Neutrals

Posted on Nov 21, 2012 in Clothes, For Moms, Hair Help, What I Wore Wednesday | 3 comments

After editing my pictures for the week I noticed that I had a very neutral week.  I wore mostly browns, blacks, tans, and gray.  While it is kind of uncharacteristic of me, I liked all of the outfits for the week, and still got in a few pops of color here and there.  Normal I love a lot of bright colors and fun textures mixed in with my neutrals, but sometimes less is more.  I came up with three really simple and budget friendly outfits that have pieces that I wear again and again!  One of the pops of color was from a simple jersey scarf that is ruffled, fun, and requires no sewing at all.

Wednesday:  Kids to school, grocery shopping and running errands.

Perfect comfortable fall weather outfit for me.

Black Leggings:   Walmart clearance $4.00

Brown Boots:  Old Navy $40.00 (with coupon)

Tank Top:  Shopko $8.00

Cheater Cheater Boot socks:  Altered by me

Here is my Pinterest inspired outfit for the week.  Unfortunately I cannot find the original source of the outfit, but it us super cute and uses lots of those great neutrals that we all have in our closets.

Saturday:  Visiting with a friend then off to the movies for a family night.

Brown Boots:  Old Navy $40.00 (with coupon)

Black  stretch skinnies:  Walmart:  $16.88

Black Tank:  Walmart $3.88

Belt:  Walmart clearance $2.00

White Tunic top:  Maurices Clearance $12.00

Scarf:  Local Shop

My bestest friend that I met in beauty school came over for a visit and we had a little fun playing with our hair!  She is a pro and always does an amazing job – she had my hair simply perfect.

She tried a new technique on my hair that I loved!  I will give you the full tutorial soon, but it is easy and leaves you with fabulously beautiful waves.

Tuesday:  Fall festivities and the little ladies school, dance class, and running all day long.

Jeans:  Thrifted (Rue 21) $5.00

Black jersey top:  Old navy $ can’t remember – old

Tank:  Walmart $3.88

Black shoes:  Maurices – super old can’t remember $

Green ruffled scarf:  DIY by me – cost less than $2.00 and I can’t wait to share how I made it – these would make great Christmas gifts and there is no sewing required!

Hair:  Natural curls in a side up do – perfect for a busy day of running around after the kids!

Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day.  What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day.  The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!
