What I Wore Wednesday – Last Days Of Summer

Posted on Aug 29, 2012 in Clothes, For Moms | 0 comments

This week was all about comfort.  Two sets of t-shirts and jeans dressed up with a little sparkle or lace and a Pinterest inspired outfit that I adored.  I would never have thought it up myself but love Pinterest for learning new ways to wear things I already have.  I also share 3 of my favorite hairstyle that are quick, easy, and look pretty nice for the little amount of effort they take.

Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day.  What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day.  The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!

My Pinterest inspiration this week was created byon Polyvore.  This outfit would coast over $270 for the shirt, shorts, and shoes.  My outfit was actually a combination of this and another outfit from pinterest, but this one is closest.  I love the look of this outfit, even though I am not a fan of wearing stiff jean jackets.  Luckily the summer weather allowed me to go for this outfit minus the jacket (good thing because I don’t own one).

Thursday:  Taking the kids to a baseball game

Lace Backed shirt:  K-mart clearance $6.50

White Shorts:  Walmart  $12.88

Belt:  Thrifted $3.00

Sandals:  Shopko $8.00

Earrings:  Old (Cannot remember)

Total Outfit Cost:  $30.38

Hair:  Natural curls with product to keep the frizz down in a casual side up-do.  I add volume to the top and pin the sides back.  Then I make a low ponytail  off to one side and make it into a messy bun.  Then I pull and pin pieces, spraying them as I go to create cascading curls.

Saturday:  Morning run to the grocery store, bank and off to a family get together with the kiddos.

As you know I love t-shirts and jeans.  This is a great way for me to be really comfy, but look like I put a little effort into myself at the same time.  These are my absolute favorite jeans with an embellished t-shirt, overnight sock bun curls and flip flops.

Embellished t-shirt:  Charlotte Russe clearance $4.50

Jeans:  Charlotte Russe Clearance $20.00

Flip Flops:  Old navy Clearance $2.50

Earrings:  Premier Designs Free for hosting a party

Total Outfit Cost:  $27.00

Hair:  I love my overnight sock bun curls – I go to bed with a sock doughnut rolled in damp hair (only on the ends) and wake up ready to go for the day.  This particular day I pulled the sides half back and was out the door.

Tuesday:  Spending the day out and about with the kids to the park and out for lunch

I love this jersey striped tunic top with all of it’s lacy details.  I purchased it at the Buckle a couple of years ago when I went into to buy some jeans.  I rarely shop at the buckle (I’m talking once every 3 years – rarely).  I do love their jeans, but have to save and plan ahead to buy them.  When I do get them, they usually last me a couple years and are my every day favorite jeans.  This shirt I purchased only because I had a gift card for my birthday – yeah!  It was normally $30 – which is way more than I would normally spend on any shirt – but I have gotten great wear out of it the last couple of years.

Striped Tunic Top: The Buckle $30.00 (used a gift card so it was $10.00)

Black Skinny Jeans:  K-mart Clearance $7.50

Black Flip Flops:  Shopko $8.00

Sparkly Hair bow:  Dollar Store $1.00 for 3

Total Outfit cost:  $26.50

Hair:  I saved my straightened hair from the day before and threw it up into a normal ponytail.  I always add volume to the top and smooth it over first so my hair isn’t plastered to my head.  A little lift goes a long way.  I added a pretty little bow to cover the hair tie and was out the door.
