What I Wore Wednesday – Back To School Routine

Well, it is back to school time, and that means that our mornings are rushed – there is never enough time before we have to head out the door.  My style is always the first thing to go – and packing lunches, feeding horses, and getting the kids ready is the priority.   I’m going to try to keep up with the What I Wore Wednesday posts even though it has gotten a little harder.

Get the low down on why I am including What I Wore Wednesday posts here, but the main reason is to motivate myself to put in a little extra effort each and every day.  What I wore Wednesday is a way for Mom’s to share outfits and get inspired to get dressed even if they aren’t heading off to work each day.  The Pleated Poppy has an amazing series where she shares what she wears each week to keep herself accountable for getting out of her pajamas everyday and I’m joining in the fun!

The morning routine is getting ironed out and I certainly feel the pressure more now than over the summer when it comes to putting a little effort into myself before I walk out the door.  I have, on more than one occasion this week, felt like running my son to school with my hair in a mess in my yoga pants – but managed to motivate myself to at least get dressed despite the urge to just run in hoping that no one sees me.

Thursday:  Dropping my son off at school and home to bake 8 loaves of bread and 2 batches of zucchini tots with my favorite little girl.

My most comfortable jeans and a t-shirt embellished with pretty flowers are a step up from the yoga pants and tank top that I used to wear on a day like this.  Is it sad that I am proud of myself for not dropping my son off at school in my pajamas?

Flowered T-shirt:  Target (Old)

Jeans:  Charlotte Russe Clearance $20.00

Flip Flops:  Shopko $8.00

Friday:  Son off to school and home to clean and pack for a weekend up north then a nice 3 hour drive with the family.

A perfectly comfortable outfit for me – my favorite MLB t-shirt and some comfy kicks get the job done when I’m home all day doing what a mom does.  I can’t get enough of this comfy t-shirt – I grabbed it on clearance at Target and didn’t realize until I got home that it was a boys short – oddly I much prefer the fit of it to the deep v-neck skin tight woman’s shirts that they often sell for sports related attire.

MLB shirt:  $7.00 Target Clearance

Jeans:  Charlotte Russe Clearance $20.00

Shoes:  Rocket Dog TJ Maxx $15.00

My Pinterest style for the week came from Uniqueimage on Polyvore and costs about $138 dollars for the shirt, shoes, and jeans alone.

I was able to put together a great casual outfit from some thrift store finds for far less and it is pretty close to the above style!

Tuesday:  Dropping my little lady off at her first day of preschool (again with the tears) and spending the day with a dear friend to ease my mommy anxiety about having two kids off at school.

Loved this simple but cute outfit – a jersey shirt with adorable little bow details on the back made it extra fun paired with some cute jeans with fabulous sparkly back pockets.

Bow tie backed shirt:  Thrifted $4.00 (!!)

Jeans:  BKE Thrifted $25.00 (!!! again)

Gold bow flip flops:  Rue 21 $6.99

Total outfit Cost:  $35.00  (that’s a third of what these jeans would cost new)

Hair:  Air dried hair in a side pony.  I was up at 5:30 to feed horses, shower, pack lunches and get the kids ready for school and this was the best I could manage before running out the door.
